Troubleshooting ​

Fixes for the problems people actually run into, starting with the most common.

On a block theme (Twenty Twenty-Five and similar) ​

This is the most common one. On a block theme, FluentCart draws product pages from its Single Product template, which contains FluentCart's own gallery block. Smart Product Gallery can't take that block over. You need to swap it for Smart Product Gallery's Product Gallery block once, in the Site Editor. Swap the block →

Not sure what kind of theme you have? If your admin has Appearance → Editor, it's a block theme. If you have Appearance → Customize and no Editor, it's classic.

On a classic theme ​

On a classic theme the gallery should replace FluentCart's automatically (how). If it doesn't:

  1. Check FluentCart and Smart Product Gallery are both active on the Plugins screen.
  2. Check the page really is a FluentCart product page and not an ordinary page with product details on it. For ordinary pages, use the shortcode with a product_id.
  3. Clear your caching plugin and your host's cache, then reload.
  4. Some themes ship their own FluentCart product templates. If yours does, the gallery may not appear automatically. When it doesn't appear →

In a page builder ​

If your product template is built in Elementor, Divi, Bricks or Oxygen and uses the builder's own gallery element, Smart Product Gallery can't reach it. Replace that element with the builder's Shortcode element and [smart_product_gallery]. Editors & Page Builders →

"No images found for this product." ​

The product has no images yet. Edit it in FluentCart and add a featured image or gallery images.

"Please provide a valid product ID." or "Please select a product." ​

The shortcode or block is on a page that isn't a product, so it doesn't know which product to show. Add the product's ID: [smart_product_gallery product_id="123"].

My changes don't show up ​

  • Did you press Save Settings? Changes aren't saved until you do. The button turns active as soon as you change something.
  • Clear caches. Page-caching plugins (and hosts with built-in caching) keep serving the old page until you clear them. The gallery's styles and options are written into each product page, so a cached copy of the page shows the old look.
  • Check the layout. Some settings only apply to certain layouts. Thumbnail options do nothing in the Slider or grid layouts, for example. If an option isn't on screen, it doesn't apply to your current layout. Settings Overview →

Two galleries on the product page ​

You added Smart Product Gallery's block or shortcode but left FluentCart's gallery in place. Or you added the shortcode to a template where the gallery already appears automatically. Remove one of them.

Zoom isn't working ​

  • Is it on? Check Enable Image Zoom on the Zoom tab.
  • Is the image big enough? Zoom magnifies detail that's in the original file. If the uploaded photo is about the same size as the gallery shows it, there's nothing extra to reveal, and zoom looks blurry or barely moves. Upload photos at least 1200px on the long side. Also check Gallery → Product Image → Image Size is set to a large size such as Original uploaded image.
  • On a phone? Hover zoom needs a mouse. There's no hover on a touchscreen. Touch users get the lightbox instead.
  • Is the zoom window covering the product details? That's how the Outside style works: the window opens beside the image. If that's in the way, choose Default or Inside (2x). Zoom styles →

Clicking the image doesn't open a lightbox ​

  • On the free plugin, that's expected. The lightbox is part of Pro, and the free plugin doesn't include it.
  • On Pro, check Enable Lightbox on the Lightbox tab, then save and refresh.

Picking a variation doesn't change the photos ​

Work through these in order:

  • Does the variation have its own images? If it has none, the gallery keeps showing the product's main photos. That's intentional, so shoppers never see an empty gallery. Add images to the variation in FluentCart.
  • Is the product built from attributes? If the product page shows a separate row of swatches per attribute (for example Material and Color), the gallery doesn't react to those yet. Only a single list of variation buttons switches it. See Variation Images.
  • Are you on the free plugin? The free plugin doesn't filter. It slides to the variation's first photo and keeps the rest.

Quick view shows FluentCart's own gallery ​

Smart Product Gallery only loads on single product pages, the page set as your Shop page in FluentCart's settings, and product category pages. A product grid on any other page, such as one added with the [fluent_cart_products] shortcode or FluentCart's Products block, opens a pop-up with FluentCart's gallery. Use FluentCart's Shop page for your main listing. See Quick View Pop-up.

Options are greyed out with a "Pro" tag ​

You're using the free plugin, and those options are part of Pro. Everything without the tag works normally. What's in each edition →

Some settings or tabs disappeared ​

They're hidden because they don't apply to the layout you've chosen. For example, choosing Tiles hides Gallery Slider, Navigation & Pagination and Thumbnails Navigation, because a grid doesn't slide. Choose a slider layout again and they return with your values. The Show More Button sub-tab only appears for Tiles, Hierarchy Grid and Modern Grid, and only when Visible Gallery Items is set to Specific.

Your photos are different shapes. With Gallery Height on Adaptive, the gallery resizes to each photo. Pick one of these fixes:

  • Use photos of the same shape (the best fix).
  • Set Gallery → Gallery Slider → Gallery Height to Max Image Height, so the gallery takes the height of the tallest photo, or to Fixed Height for an exact height.

That's AutoPlay, which is on by default. Turn it off under Gallery → Gallery Slider. AutoPlay →

Pagination dots or thumbnail arrows only appear on hover ​

In Pro, Pagination Visibility and Thumbnails Navigation Visibility default to On Hover, so the gallery looks clean until a shopper moves over it. To show them all the time, set them to Always under Navigation & Pagination and Thumbnails Navigation. Remember that touchscreens have no hover, so on phones these controls appear only after a tap.

License won't activate ​

The message under the field tells you why: the key reached its activation limit, expired, or belongs to another site. Each message explained →

My settings were reset after removing the free plugin ​

Free and Pro share the same settings option, and deleting either plugin deletes it. Set things up again and Save Settings. Next time, deactivate the free plugin rather than deleting it. Why →
